ARZA/World Union, North America : $15,000 For its work to promote Jewish community building in the Former Soviet Union (FSU) so that Jews there can identify actively as Jews while maintaining full participation in the general society. Friends Committee on National Legislation: $5,000 For its project, Campaign for Innocent Victims In Conflict (CIVIC), which aids civilians harmed in conflicts around the world. Fund for Global Human Rights : $100,000 For general support of this organization, which serves as an intermediary funding mechanism to generate and distribute support for local human rights organizations around the world that lack access to international funding. (Second installment of a two-year $200,000 grant.) International Senior Lawyers Project: $5,000 For general support of this organization, whose mission is to advance democracy and the rule of law, protect human rights and promote equitable economic opportunities worldwide. Lawyers Committee for Human Rights : $20,000 Recommended for the Russian Lawyers Committee in Defense of Human Rights, which seeks to advance human rights in the former Soviet Union through representation of victims of political repression, human rights policy development, and legal assistance to NGOs.
