Human Rights $365,916.46American Jewish World Service: $60,000 For its Jewish Community Development Fund, which provides small grants for Jewish renewal and human rights programs in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Fund for Global Human Rights (FGHR): $190,916.46 a) For general support of this organization, an intermediary funding mechanism to facilitate support for local human rights organizations around the world. (First installment of a two-year $200,000 grant); b) for the Fund's first major donor outreach and fundraising project, designed to build a major gifts program to increase the resources the Fund is able to deliver to on-the-ground human rights activists ($50,000); and c) an in-kind contribution for base rent and operating expenses, leasehold improvements and the use of computers and furniture and miscellaneous support services and supplies ($40,916.46). Grassroots International: $10,000 Recommended for the Platform of Haitian Human Rights Organizations. Human Rights First: $55,000 a) For its first annual Human Rights Defender Policy Forum ($40,000); b) recommended for support of the International Refugee Rights Initiative ($5,000); and c) recommended for the Russian Lawyers Committee in Defense of Human Rights, which seeks to advance human rights in the Former Soviet Union through representation of victims of political repression, human rights policy development, and legal assistance to NGOs ($10,000). International Crisis Group: $50,000 For its project to address the crisis in Darfur, Sudan.
