American Jewish World Service: $25,000 For its Jewish Community Development Fund, which provides small grants for Jewish renewal and human rights programs in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Amnesty International USA, Inc.: $20,000 For its International Justice and Accountability Program Conference. Center for Victims of Torture: $20,000 For its New Tactics workshop in Monrovia in February 2007 for Liberian civil society groups.. Fund for Global Human Rights (FGHR): $142,753.76 For a) general support of this organization, which raises funds for local human rights organizations around the world ($100,000); and b) an in-kind contribution for rent and operating expenses ($42,753.76). Human Rights First: $40,000 For its 2007 Human Rights Defenders Policy Forum project, which enables leading human rights activists from around the world to engage in collective consultation and make their concerns known to policy makers, opinion leaders and the public. Justice at Stake Campaign: $30,000 For general support of this organization, which works to keep U.S. state courts fair and impartial through citizen education, civic engagement and reform. Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund, Inc.: $75,000 For general support of this organization, which educates the public about the need for national policies that support civil rights and social and economic justice and that encourage an appreciation for the nation’s diversity. Philanthropic Ventures Foundation: $2,500 For general support of this organization, which supports efforts to achieve the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the treaties and laws it has generated so that all people may enjoy a truly and fully human existence. Rabbis for Human Rights/North America: $20,000 For general support of this organization, which is committed to defending the human rights of all people in Israel and in the territories under Israeli control: Israelis and Palestinians, Muslims, Christians, and Jews, young and old, rich and poor, citizens and foreigners.
